This grand circular route will allow you to explore every corner of Morocco. Over 16 days, you’ll have ample time to immerse yourself in the culture and essence of each place. We will visit all the major cities in the country, the atlantic coast, and spend three days in the Sahara desert to learn about the way of life of the communities in this area and experience the unique sensations that this place, unlike any other in the world, offers us.

Itinerary

  • At the estimated time, our guide will pick you up at Casablanca airport and transfer you to the hotel.
  • After getting acquainted with Morocco’s economic capital, we will visit its famous Hassan II Mosque and other exciting places such as the Corniche and the Square of the Doves.
  • (If the flight arrives at night, this visit will be conducted the following day.)
  • After breakfast, we will depart towards Rabat, where we will visit its main monuments: the Oudaias Kasbah, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Hassan Tower.
  • After some free time to explore the city, we will head towards Chefchaouen, where we will spend the night. This city is the only intercontinental natural park declared a biosphere reserve in Morocco. It is a mountain village painted in white and blue, inhabited by wise, friendly, and respectful people. It offers visitors beautiful urban landscapes, exquisite local craftsmanship, and a sense of peace and serenity that is hard to find nowadays.

  • After breakfast, we will spend a whole day exploring Chefchaouen, a mountain village in the heart of the Rif region, renowned for its Andalusian architecture of white-washed houses adorned with shades of indigo blue.
  • We will visit the medina to discover its rich historical and cultural heritage, and immerse ourselves in the vibrant ambiance of its streets, the picturesque Uta Square, the Hammam, and the Rass-el Maa Waterfall. The colorful streets filled with handicrafts will captivate our senses. It is worth taking a moment to enjoy a mint tea on a café terrace, observe the relaxed rhythm of the locals, get lost in the medina, engage in conversations with friendly people, or play with the children; the possibilities are endless!

  • After breakfast, we will bid farewell to the enchanting world of Chefchaouen and make our way toward Fez, the first of the imperial cities and home to one of the oldest universities in the world.
  • Along the way, we will visit the well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis, where we can delve into the ancient history of Morocco.
  • We will also catch a panoramic view of Moulay Idriss, the holy city where we will have lunch. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Fez, where we can enjoy the sunset while exploring the walls and gates of its medina or relax with a welcome tea on the terrace of our hotel overlooking the bustling medina.

  • After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our guided tour of the Medina and Monuments of Fez.
  • We will start by exploring the modern part of the city, where we will visit the Royal Palace and the Jewish Quarter (Mellah).
  • Then, we will head to a viewpoint where we can admire the entire medina from the South Tower and the numerous mosques that dot the skyline.
  • Next, we will continue on a walking tour of the medina, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its labyrinthine alleyways are structured by guilds of potters, dyers, and other artisans. The bustling atmosphere and vibrant energy will transport us back in time as we experience the medieval ambiance of the city.
  • We will notice that time seems to have stood still at the “Magana Bounania” clock, which has been ticking for over 1200 years since its construction. It truly is a marvel to behold!

  • After breakfast, we will head south, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains, until we reach Ifrane, also known as “the little Swiss of Morocco,” due to its resemblance to that country. One of the notable animals that used to inhabit this area was the Atlas lion, which has become the city’s symbol, celebrated with a stone statue in its center. We will take a moment to stop and “greet” the magnificent lion.
  • Continuing our journey, we will pass through the famous cedar forests, where we can admire the majestic Great Gouraud Cedarthe giant thousand-year-old cedar in the region, and have the opportunity to feed the hundreds of Barbary macaques that inhabit the area.
  • We will enjoy our lunch in Midelt, and from here, the landscape will gradually become more arid, revealing spectacular geological formations and deep green valleys, such as the Ziz Valley.
  • We will start to notice the typical adobe architecture, palm trees, and distant Kasbahs, indicating that we are approaching the gateway to the desert.
  • An hour after Erfoud, we will arrive at the impressive dunes of Merzouga.
  • After a hospitality Tea, we will check into our hotel rooms and climb the nearby dunes to witness the breathtaking sunset.

  • After breakfast, we will venture into the surroundings of Erg Chebbi and head towards the SafSaf Oasis, located near the border with Algeria (approximately 30 km away).
  • Along the way, we will make stops to admire the marvelous landscape surrounding us.
  • During the journey, we will take a break to visit a nomadic family, where we will share a traditional tea under the comforting shade of a berber tent.
  • Afterward, we will continue our journey until we reach our destination, the Tissardmine Oasis.
  • The Tissardmine Oasis is a breathtaking location nestled between tall barren hills, featuring a wild palm grove with lush vegetation and a river of the same name (SafSaf) where swimming is possible. In this idyllic setting,
  • We will enjoy our lunch. As the sun sets, we will return to the hotel at the foot of the desert.

  • After delicious breakfast, we will have another full day to enjoy the desert.
  • We will circle Erg Chebbi, a vast expanse of dunes where the Great Dune of Morocco rises over 250 meters in height.
  • We will have the magnificent backdrop of the mountains that border Algeria as we drive along the track.
  • Our first stop will be at the Tissardmin Oasis, where we can admire the fossils still found in this region.
  • From there, we will continue our journey to a nomadic settlement, where we will learn about their way of life and customs.
  • Next, we will pause at a panoramic viewpoint to take in the breathtaking view of Erg Chebbi.
  • We will then reach the village of Khamlia, home to formerly enslaved people from Mali.
  • Here, we will relax with a cup of tea while enjoying a small concert of their traditional and spiritual Gnawa music.
  • Afterward, we will return to the hotel and continue on a camel ride that will take us deep into the heart of the dunes.
  • We will witness an unforgettable sunset before arriving at the camp, where we will spend the night in berber tents made of camel hair, just like the desert nomads.
  • Tonight, we will enjoy a dinner in the heart of the desert under a spectacular blanket of stars, accompanied by drumming and berber music around a campfire.

  • We wake up early for our “Date with Sunrise” as it is highly recommended to rise early in the desert.
  • We will take a walk to the highest dune in the vicinity to witness the sunrise and immerse ourselves in the calm beauty of nature before returning to our hotel on camel.
  • After a delicious breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the desert and set off toward Rissani.
  • If we’re fortunate and it’s one of the market days (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday),
  • We will explore the bustling Rissani Market.
  • We then continue our journey to Erfoud and pass through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad.
  • An hour later, we reach one of the highlights of the High Atlas Mountains: the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved a canyon with towering vertical walls of immense proportions and breathtaking beauty. This place is a paradise for climbers and a unique sight.
  • We will have lunch in this remarkable setting and take a half-hour hike to fully appreciate and enjoy the gorges’ magnificence.
  • In the afternoon, we continue our journey toward the Dades Valleythe Valley of Figs.
  • Along the way, we will stop in Boumalne Dades to observe the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations.
  • Finally, we arrive at the Dades Gorges.

  • After breakfast, we will enjoy one of the best views ofthe Dades Valley from a strategic vantage point in the mountains.
  • From there, we can observe the abundance of kasbahs and appreciate the picturesque nature of each one.
  • We will then continue our journey on the road dotted with fascinating kasbahs until we reach the Kasbah of Aït Youl, where we will detour and venture off-road into the heart of the High Atlas Mountains to discover spectacular landscapes.
  • We will visit a nomadic family still living in caves in the Boutagrar Valley, where time seems to have stood still.
  • We will have lunch in the village of the Rose Valley, and in the afternoon,
  • We will pass through the Skoura Palmeraie, a palm grove until we reach Ouarzazate.

  • After breakfast, we will dedicate the morning to visiting Ouarzazate, including the Taourirt Kasbah and the Film Studios.
  • Then we will depart towards the fortified city of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will visit its famous Kasbah (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site). This stunning setting has been the filming location for renowned movies such as Gladiator, Asterix & Obelix, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, and The Jewel of the Nile.
  • We will have lunch in this magnificent place and continue our journey towards Marrakech, passing through the highest mountain pass of Tizi N’Tichka.
  • We will also visit an argan oil cooperative to learn about the production process and its numerous benefits for the body.
  • Around 6 p.m., we will arrive in Marrakech and have free time to explore the famous Jamaa el Fna Square.

  • On this day, you will have time to relax and explore the city at your own pace.
  • You can take leisurely walks, practice the art of bargaining in the souks, and discover the hidden corners of the medina based on your curiosity.

  • After breakfast, our local guide will pick you up from the hotel to begin the grand tour of the Marrakech Medina.
  • You will explore Marrakech’s most exciting and significant places, such as the Koutoubia Mosque, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and Majorelle Gardens.
  • In the afternoon, you will have some free time to relax and then head out to the Jamaa el Fna square to stroll and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the evening in this iconic place.

  • After breakfast, we will leave Marrakech and head towards the port city of Essaouira, formerly known as MogadorEssaouira has witnessed the passage of numerous civilizations, from the Romans to the Portuguese, not to mention the Arabs and the Berbers. This history holds countless traces of these cultures, whether in the form of monuments or the customs of its people.
  • We will have the opportunity to admire its Medina and the 18th-century Portuguese fortifications and enjoy a relaxing stroll or a swim at the beach.

  • After breakfast, we will head towards Casablanca along the coast, enjoying a landscape of beautiful and untouched beaches until we reach the town of El Jadida, where we will have lunch before continuing to Casablanca.
